ZOOZ BULLETIN - APRIL 2010

It is now only 2 weeks until our first workshop (April 22nd) with our visiting choreographers (Avi Levy & Moshe Eskayo)  and master teacher, Eileen Weinstock. They are just as excited as we are and are so looking forward to meeting all the Australasian dancers! And we at ZOOZ are also very much looking forward to greeting them and our interstate guests from Perth & Sydney and our 3 New Zealand visitors.

WORKSHOP CATERING:-
We are pleased that some of you have already sent in your registration forms or have advised us that you are coming to particular workshops.
However, it is very important for our catering to know how many people are having lunch with us on Saturday. The cost is only $10 and for this you will get a choice of a variety of fresh filled rolls, a choice of 2 soups (vegetarian base) and fresh fruit. Tea/coffee etc. also included, of course. If you are a vegetarian, it is particularly important for us to know, so that we can supply sufficient vegetarian rolls. Even if you do not pay in advance, please let us know that you will be requiring lunch and whether you are vegetarian or not. (email, text, or call)

All of the 4 weekend workshops & Thursday night workshop, cost $50, which includes morning & afternoon teas, or suppers.

NB. ALL WORKSHOPS & DINNERS WILL BE HELD AT SACRE COEUR COLLEGE HALL, 172 BURKE RD. GLEN IRIS

SATURDAY EVENING PROGRAM & COSTS:-
There will be a BBQ on Saturday night, commencing at 7.30 pm. We will also, of course, cater for people who have kosher or vegetarian requirements. The cost of the BBQ, which includes a variety of salads and fresh fruit, is only $25 per person. You definitely won't go hungry!! You are very welcome to bring your partner along for the BBQ and they can stay as a non-dancer for the party following if they wish..
PLEASE LET US KNOW A.S.A.P.  IF YOU WILL BE COMING ALONE OR WITH YOUR PARTNER, AND IF YOU ARE VEGETARIAN, KOSHER, OR NO SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (NB. We will have kosher meat on a separate BBQ for the kosher people, (YOU MUST ADVISE IF YOU REQUIRE KOSHER MEAT)  Vegetarian food will not be cooked on the same grill as the meat.)

Just for a bit of fun, we are going to have a fancy dress theme for the Saturday night.(24th April)  It will be  "ALICE IN ZOOZLAND" and we would love it if you could come to the BBQ and to the party following, wearing fancy dress. You can come wearing a very weird hat, rabbit's ears, or, come dressed as one of the characters from "Alice in Wonderland"  - there are many colourful characters to choose from!!......The Mad Hatter, The March Hare, The White Rabbit, The Queen, The Caterpiller, The Cheshire Cat (wear a big grin!!), Tweedledee and Tweedledum etc etc.

Following the BBQ, Moshe Eskayo has promised to entertain us all with his legendary skit..."The Cobbler". It is absolutely hilarious!
Following that, we will be having an Israeli dance party for ALL LEVELS! The cost for the dance party is $25. For non-dancers, there is just a supper fee of $5
(FOR CATERING PURPOSES, PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE BRINGING A NON-DANCER !!)

The dancing will start at approx. 9.30 pm. For those of you who are not able to come to our BBQ because of other arrangements, you will still be able to join us for a fabulous night of dancing with all of our guests. We expect to dance late into the night, or for as long as people are still willing & able to dance!!!....approx  finishing time...1.30 am.

THURSDAY NIGHT:

Our 1st workshop - we will be celebrating Yom Ha'atzmaut, so please wear something BLUE & WHITE.

FRIDAY NIGHT:

Anyone who is attending at least one of our workshops is invited to join us for a Kabbalat Shabbat dinner. There is NO CHARGE for this, but we would ask you to please bring some food or drinks to share. Non-dancing partners & other family members, are more than welcome to join us. If you haven't already told us that you are planning to come, could you please let us know so we can discuss which food or drink you should bring.  Our choreographers will be there of course, and we plan to show a video of Avi Levy's dance troupe "Avivim" doing a recent performance....they are just marvellous to watch.

CLOTHING:-

Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes (preferably a good solid lace-up supportive shoe with a good shock-absorbing heel, as you are going to be doing a lot of dancing)
If you have a ZOOZ t-shirt, we would be thrilled if you could wear it.  It is also a suggestion that for your comfort you bring along another  t-shirt or top, and a pair of socks to change into, if you are doing both of the Saturday workshops.

If you are doing all of the Saturday program,  pace yourself ZOOZ'ies!!  There will be quite a few dances you won't know, especially at the party - don't try to follow each and every dance!! Just enjoy watching them and take a bit of a break whenever you can.

PARKING AT THE WORKSHOP

For the earlybirds, there is enough car spaces for about 15 cars right next to the hall and a few spots next to the administration building nearby. Otherwise, when you drive into the school grounds, go straight ahead (don't turn left towards the hall) and you will find plenty of car parking spots. There is also of course lots of parking in Burke Rd. Enjoy the stroll through the gardens!

Registration forms can either be downloaded from our homepage on our website - Just click on ZOOZ 2010 Workshops, and then click where it says "book the workshops here" to bring up the registration form. Or alternatively, they are available at all our ZOOZ classes.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you need further information or clarification or if you want a registration form emailed to you.

HELP FOR THE STAFF:-

If you would like to volunteer to help our staff with decorating the hall on Thursday evening and/or on Friday & Saturday evening, or if you would like to help tidy up after meals etc, please let someone on the staff know. We would be delighted to have your help.

FAREWELL:-

This Thursday night we must bid a fond farewell to 2 of our dancers, Miri & Greg Epstein who next week are making "Aliyah" (going to live in Israel permanently). Unfortunately they will be missing the workshops!  Miri & Greg have danced consistently in our Wednesday night partners class and Thursday evening intermediate to advanced class, almost since we commenced ZOOZ 4 years ago. We know you will enjoy living and dancing in Israel (lucky you!!) and all of us at ZOOZ, teachers, staff & dancers, wish you good luck and every happiness. We hope you will come back and visit us from time to time & of course we will enjoy catching up with you when we are visiting Israel!! B'hatzlacha!! (Good luck)

NEW BEGINNERS:
Congratulations to all our NEW beginners who joined us in February, They are currently taking our 8 week specially structured New beginners' course (circles/lines and partner dancing)! You are doing extremely well and it certainly won't be too long before you join us for workshops & camps & other fun events,

Happy ZOOZ'ing
